There was an old man who in his eighties could no longer live on his own. He realized that he would have to go into a retirement home, for he could not be by himself. Now some people may look at this and feel sorry for this man, or any one else who has to enter a reitrement home at the end of their life. However, as this man was being wheeled up to the front door to enter this new home, he stopped the wheelchair he was being pushed in, looked at the person who was pushing him, sighed, and said, "My last missions field".

This was a story told to InXtreme, the young adults group I go to on Wednesday nights, well try to at least. We have a new pastor this year and because I have not gone on a regular basis, I feel a little out of the loop-so many new people that I do not know and then not enough time when I am there to really, deeply, catch up with the people I have come to know and care about. However, tonight, I finally went and it was amazing. God really spoke into a lot of our hearts. God is doing some amazing things with this group and with our generation altogether. We were reading through Luke 2:22-40 and what really caught me and what Jeff, our pastor, really emphasized was Anna and Simeon. These two people chose God-for all he was and were following him with everything they had. Anna could have remarried, but instead, chose a life of worshipping God and truly giving all of her days to him. You could see the passion and fire burning within Jeff as he begged us not to waste our days. He shared the story I typed above and I just thought wow. That is an amazing attitude and an amazing way to look at God and the work he has prepared for us-no matter what circumstance or situation we may find ourselves in.

Another point I found really interesting tonight was that there is no third option with Christianity. You either accept Jesus or you don't. He is the way, the truth, and the life. We continually try to make a third option. Jeff's example was with advertising-the billions of dollars they spend on  telling us that the dream life we want to live consists in money, power, and sex. That we need a lot of this and only this to live the good life. We don't like someone who convicts us, as Jesus does. We don't like that we have to truly, and I mean truly, follow someone. We are constantly striving to find a middle ground. It is time to give that never ending chase up and simply follow. We do not have time to waste our days. It's not an easy path, but then again, who ever said the Christian path was an easy one?
